5 Tips For Healthy, Radiant Skin

health, fitness, nutrition, wellness

Good skin comes from the inside-out! As the weather changes, our skin care needs change, as well. Here are some tips from a nutritional therapy practitioner for caring for your skin as the weather gets colder.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Make a hydrating drink with the electrolyte concentrate E-Lyte diluted in water, and add a squeeze of lemon juice. Add stevia to taste if desired. Alternatively, you can do a generous pinch of salt in a glass of lemon water. Hydrating products like E-Lyte and salt help bind water to the skin.

Boost your body’s ability to moisturize by supporting fat digestion.

Your body has its own way to keep skin moisturized from the fats we eat. Dry skin that needs lotion or cracked heels are indicators we might not be using our dietary fats. Bile needs to be flowing freely for the body to use the fats.

Try two to three (2-3) Beta-TCP tablets with each meal, which help support bile flow. Consider also adding one (1) Phosphatidylcholine with each meal in addition to the Beta-TCP. Phosphatidylcholine also helps support healthy bile, and is a important component of healthy skin cell membranes.

Load up on the moisturizing good fats.

Make sure to get a range of good fats to keep the skin moisturized. Good fats will also boost your skin’s natural defenses against sunburn, which can still happen even as the days get shorter. Cut out bad fats that gum up your body’s fat metabolizing enzymes, like vegetable oils and anything hydrogenated.

Bio-MCT is good for those with biliary dysfunction, as it doesn’t require bile salts for absorption. And, it acts as brain rocket fuel. It will give your body and mind a boost of energy AND help keep your skin soft and moisturized. Try adding a tablespoon of Bio-MCT to your morning smoothie or blending it into your coffee.

Boost your skin’s regenerative processes with Vitamin A.

Vitamin A (retinol) boosts the skin’s natural exfoliating processes and triggers new cell growth. Add a drop of Bio-Ae-Mulsion Forte to your regular moisturizer or a small amount of coconut oil before you go to bed at night, when your skin does its regenerative processes. This routine also works well for acne.

Load up on antioxidants to protect the skin and prevent aging.

Antioxidants help take out free radicals, which damage the skin. BioProtect is broad-spectrum antioxidant support and this one is the big guns for antioxidants! Take one to three (1-3) capsules each day with meals. Use the BioProtect with GSH-Plus at one (1) capsule three (3) times daily with meals for a higher level of antioxidant protection.

For chronic skin problems, heal the gut.

For problematic skin, always suspect the gut, and consider doing a gut-healing protocol. A basic gut integrity support protocol is six (6) IPS first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for one month. Implement a nutrient dense, anti-inflammatory diet at the same time and incorporate lots of bone broth and probiotic fermented foods. Be happy and healthy!
